If you’ve recently purchased any garments that are eco-friendly such as bamboo fabric, linen or organic cotton, you might have noticed that it can be tricky to clean it and get it back to it’s original purchase state.
Linen and Organic Cotton specially if not washed and dried carefully can become course to touch and difficult to iron.
There are several points to consider when washing eco-friendly fabric, please see below:
- Washing eco-friendly fabrics needs to be done with care. It’s not a matter of throwing it in your washing machine and dryer and moving on to your next task as the fabrics are made with less chemicals which is beneficial for the environment but most importantly, no synthetic fibers made from crude oil which keeps the fabrics subtle and soft post washing.
- Taking care of eco-clothing items needs to be done with love so it last and is durable. Most of these items are classic styles and if cared for will not go out of fashion. It’s going to feel like an effort at first but like anything once you see the results the benefits gained will pay off.
- Read labels an care instructions. Manufactures know how to care for fabrics as they cut, stretch, pull and wash garments when making an item.
- Stay away from chemical fabric softeners. If required use natural alternatives like wool balls.
- Wash on gentle and warm water cycle and air dry or cool dry if using a dryer.
